A unique alchemy on the terrace of the campsites
This summer, following a busy season featuring eight performances at various campsites, one observation kept coming up in conversation amongst all the campsite managers. Many campsite managers told me they had been particularly surprised by the way the audience turned out. They were amazed to see the terraces fill up so much, people staying until the end of the show and such a great atmosphere developing, especially compared to the other performers they are used to hosting.
Yet, from my perspective as a street performer, the camping crowd strikes me as the easiest and most wonderful audience in the world! They’re an engaged audience, there to unwind, share experiences and be amazed. When you know how to connect with them and build a genuine rapport, the magic happens instantly.
1. A show that’s 100 per cent family-friendly and interactive
At an outdoor venue, the audience is, by definition, made up of people of all ages. Parents want to relax, children want to be amazed, and teenagers are looking for a bit of excitement.
A good street performance ticks all these boxes:
- A comprehensive programme to suit all tastes: The show combines humour, technical brilliance, poetry and elements of surprise. The result is that there’s something for everyone, whatever their age or expectations.
Interactivity: The audience is not passive behind a table. They laugh, take part and become part of the show.
The rhythm: The energy generated on stage spreads instantly, and the audience remains captivated by the show, lingering over drinks on the bar terrace.
The shared memory: It’s the sort of kind of special moment that the whole the family still talks about it the next day by the pool. The show becomes a regular event at the campsite.
2. A natural ease when dealing with an international audience
Campsites welcome a wide range of European guests (Dutch, German, British, Belgian, etc.). For a manager, organising entertainment that excludes half of the non-French-speaking guests is bound to be a disappointment.
Thanks to regular performances on the international stage and a style of acting which is based on the visual, the rhythm and performance, the language barrier disappears completely. By performing in several languages and by emphasising visual emotion, every holidaymaker feels included and captivated from start to finish.
3. Complete flexibility to suit your infrastructure
Whether the holiday village has a large, fully equipped stage, a central square lined with shops, or a smaller space by the water’s edge, street performances can be adapted to any setting. Thanks to a rich repertoire comprising several original productions, the performance can be tailored to the layout of your spaces without requiring complex logistics.
A good artist is self-sufficient; they turn up with their own sound system and lighting equipment.
4. Risk of fire & heatwaves: peace of mind guaranteed for management
The fire show remains one of the most impressive and sought-after attractions for summer evening events. However, heatwaves and drought warnings can sometimes cause concern for venue managers.
This summer, due to the weather conditions and strict regulations, we were able to adapt half of our shows – sometimes at the last minute – to a light-based format. This high level of responsiveness ensures that your events can go ahead come what may:
Framed Fire Show: With over 15 years’ experience, safety is our top priority. We always ensure a risk-free show.
Back-up option: In the event of a prefectural order or ban, the show switches instantly to a high-tech visual version, ensuring a show that is just as captivating, without a single spark.
Start planning your next season of events!
